Virginia Sherborne

Counsellor

BA (Hons), PGCE, Dip. H.E. Couns. MBACP

I am a qualified counsellor and member of the BACP. Parenting and family issues are one of my specialist areas, along with bereavement, rape and sexual abuse. My clients include young people as well as adults.

My training and experience:

I trained to be a teacher in 1987, after initially working as an accountant, and have been teaching in secondary schools ever since. In 2003 I trained as a Parenting Instructor for the 'Parent Effectiveness Training' course. Since graduating from Sheffield Hallam's Counselling Diploma course, I am able to offer both short and longer-term integrative counselling. ('Integrative' counselling means that I can draw on a wide range of techniques to suit each individual client.) I have extra training and experience in working with bereavement, rape and sexual abuse. As a qualified and very experienced teacher, with teenage children of my own, I am happy to work with young people, and have received specialist training in children's grief. Parenting issues are one of my areas of expertise, and I am an expert consultant for Parenting UK's Parentchannel.tv. My other areas of interest are anger management, trauma, infertility and ecotherapy.

Counselling can help you to:

  • gain some perspective on your life
  • find a way forward if you feel stuck or confused
  • understand relationships in your family and beyond
  • improve your interpersonal skills
