Research Information
Most patients consult us because friends or relatives have had benefit from a particular treatment or from seeing a particular therapist, some come on the recommendation of their GP or other healthcare practitioner. The research evidence base for many complementary and alternative medicines is slowly growing, but there are many problems with regards to funding this type of research, and ensuring that the correct research methods are used. To view the clinical trial evidence for homeopathy, acupuncture, osteopathy and herbal medicine we recommend the following website http://www.library.nhs.uk/cam/
Clare Relton, director of Wellforce and a homeopath at Wellforce is also active in research into homeopathy. Clare has conducted audits of homeopathic treatment for women with menopausal and PMS symptoms, and has recently completed two pragmatic clinical trials - homeopathic treatment for patients with fibromyalgia and homeopathic treatment for patients with menopausal hot flushes. Clare works at the University of Leeds developing a programme of homeopathy research with Professor Kate Thomas in the School of Healthcare. She is currently focussing on the areas of Chronic Widespread Pain and Fibromyalgia Syndrome and Insomnia. Clare is also head of clinical research of the Homeopathy Research Institute
