Reflexology

Whilst the art of reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt, India and China, it wasn't until 1913 that Dr William Fitzgerald introduced this therapy to the west as 'zone therpay'. He noted that reflex areas on the feet and hands were linked to other areas and organs of the body within the same zone. In the 1930's Eunie Ingham further developed this zone theory into what is now known as reflexology. A reflexologist works on the feet to treat the whole person not just the prevailing symptoms. By working on specific areas of the feet a reflexologist will be able to pinpoint a corresponding condition in the body.

What to expect in your first appointment

Your first appointment will consist of your therapist taking a medical case history. Based on the information you give the therapist, they will work specific points of the feet through massage and applied pressure to help the corresponding areas of the body that are needing help. Your reflexologyist will be able to 'read' your condition through your feet and the sensitivity of different areas of the foot. Often people can feel very relaxed after a treatment, like they are 'walking on air'.
