John Butler
BA, RSHom
Registered with The Society of Homeopaths
I started training in homeopathy in 1994 after a twenty year career as a youth worker, teacher and latterly a trainer of youth workers within local educational authorities, the voluntary sector and universities. I qualified as a homeopath at the Soluna School of Homeopathy in Derbyshire in 1998 and subsequently became a registered member of The Society of Homeopaths (RSHom). I completed a two year postgraduate Diploma at the Dynamis School of Advanced Homeopathic Studies in 2004.
Homeopathy is the most challenging discipline I have ever engaged with and I was the arch-sceptic during my training. However I found that homeopathy does bear scrutiny and is a truly inspiring medicine for gently and safely restoring health. It is my experience that, by viewing health holistically and enabling patients to recognise the connections between mind and body we can help them to become more at ease (less dis-eased) in themselves and in their lives.
Given my background it is not surprising that I enjoy treating children and young people and I have a particular interest in men's health. But actually I enjoy treating all kinds of people, with all kinds of illnesses. I always expect patients to view the process from a critical point of view - so we can work together on identifying what needs to be cured and the progress we are making towards that. I feel privileged to be able to help people in this way, especially in those cases that have not responded to conventional medicine.
I enjoy being part of a large and vibrant group of homeopaths. It encourages working supportively, sharing ideas and keeping up with new research and training opportunities. This is further strengthened by the homeopathy team being placed within an even larger group of other complementary therapists.
